Yesterday: Crock-Pot Cacciatore, on the Cheap

Did this in the crock yesterday, as Wednesday is one of my 15-hour days and I am working on crocking to avoid the drive-thru when I get home at 10pm.

Ingredients
2 frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 can Hunts garlic and herb spaghetti sauce
1/2 white onion, chopped
1 heaping tablespoon minced garlic
1 5-oz can sliced mushrooms

are you the one that commented on my post yesterday that you were making the same thing as i minus the chicken sausage? mine lacked mushrooms, and i feel like it needs em.

i did mine with rotini. got lots of delicious leftovers.

Yup, that was me. I think I would add more mushrooms and some green pepper when I make it next. Or get a sauce with those things already in it.

that newman's sauce i used has green peppers in it. or maybe that was the other half jar i put in at the end, also newman's. lol.

Did you drain the mushrooms or put the whole thing in? I'm assuming drainage. :D

Yup, drained. Though the tiny bit of liquid in that little can probably wouldn't have made a difference either way.

It's definitely good if you saute bell peppers, onions, and some garlic before putting them in. And a higher quality sauce makes a huge difference.

tried this; am eating it now. am very pleased with it. made it with strips instead of breasts, because i'm fresh out of chicken boobs. note to those who don't like spicy stuff... the red pepper gives it one hell of a kick!

of course, i probably shouldn't have added red pepper, paprika, AND tony's... oops?

I've got this in the crock now. I added more chicken and more sauce. It's already smelling good.
