Imagine if you will, a friend who is being crushed by a car. He was under it and the jacks fell out. You watched them fall and now you're watching the car slowly crushing him to death. Well...perhaps there's more to the car situation. Say you are pushing and pushing, and doing the best you can...but he's not pushing, or trying. I think the thing is that no matter how hard you try, he has to push too. If he's not trying yto save himself, there is little you can do. Two people pushing a "car" might just get the job done. But if he wont help himself, what can you do? He has to try. If this is the same guy youve mentioned before...well, he seems like he isnt doing anything to help himself (like looking into antidepressants). I dont know how much you can do by yourself. Its like trying to make another person love you. It cant be done, that person has to do it themselves. But of course, you can always help. I dont want to paint a bleak picture, and you may disagree, but I truly believe you cannot help a person who wont help himself.

(Could it also be possible that he is the type of person that needs to be miserable in order to be happy? I dont know him, of course...or the circumstances, but I was just wondering...)
