good car = Ford? Seriously? Last time I was car shopping I heard such ghastly things about Ford & maintenance issues that I never even seriously thought about one. Mind you, that was more than six years ago.

Not a good car per se - just something that I can drive into the ground for a couple of months. Good car in this instance means, "MPG = 31, clean bill of health, inspected."

Fords... break. Happily, a Ford Probe I can do a lot of the fixes on myself once I have a manual for 'em. In short, not a good car from a real-car perspective, but good for beating the heck out of for a bit.

In Ford's defense, I have a 99 Taurus that I've driven from 27k to 136k miles, and the only problem it's had was to do with the steering ... rack or something. Peripheral electrics got a little sketchy in the heat this summer, buuut ... 136k miles, seriously.

*nods*

The probe is 147k at the moment - and in fantastic shape with the exception of the attachment on the left side of the rear sway bar. Think a pipe collar rusting through. Rest of the car, very well kept little rust.

Happiness! Ooo, I should post about it.
