RIP Lloyd Alexander

It was just this past March that I was squeeing over obtaining a signed copy of Lloyd Alexander's The Book of Three.

I still remember reading The Chronicles of Prydain for the first time and wanting to learn anything and everything about Welsh mythology. Alexander, along with Alan Garner and Tolkien, opened up new worlds of high British fantasy ( Read more... )

I was holding out hope for "The Next Two Lives of Lukas Kasha"...

How I loved Lloyd Alexander, I cannot begin to count the ways, but I can count the books of his I loved and they will be here forever.

I remember that a girl named Olivia gave me one of his Prydain books for my eleventh birthday, and that it was good and beautiful. And easier to read, a simpler ending than LotR.

The only consolation is that he had a long productive life and was much appreciated during his lifetime.
