Schrödinger's Attic-Dwelling Rodent

Mar 23, 2012 21:05

A hypothetical rodent hypothetically dies in your attic. You suspect the corpse is the source of a rather unpleasant pong seeping down the stairs. You can't face investigating before going on holiday tomorrow.

Do you reckon the pong would persist for longer than the two weeks you're away?

Hmm. Mice don't usually smell that bad from such a distance, they are pretty darn small. I'd check it out.

It'd probably still smell in 2 weeks. As might the whole house!

Leaving it for two weeks may well result in returning to a far worse smell - especially if this heat continues. And unsorted hypothetical corpses may attract hypothetical flies leading to hypothetical maggots...

Yep, and the problems might become less hypothetical as the not very hypothetical rottings drop through your ceiling and stain them.
