I think they put one too many "not"s in 24...unless they're actually advising people to use small caliber handguns. Good stuff, though. 20 is my favorite.
The general rule seems to be to use the largest caliber you're comfortable with. If you can, train with something a bit bigger until you're comfortable with that.
I just bought some slugs to go with my rifled barrel Mossberg Maverick. They came up to about $3 a slug, which is not exactly cheap in my book. Still worth buying if it'll feed you or save your life, but I'm definitely going to get a source of inexpensive but still worthwhile buckshot and slugs.
