It does work for crochet too! :o)
Well, I had to try it, so I braved the painful hands, and crocheted a peep with the loopy legs idea, and it worked!! Now maybe you guys have been doing this all along, I don't know, but I haven't seen it elsewhere, so I have to share! :o)

I would be interested in seeing the in-progress shots to get the full idea of what you did. I get the ear part, but I am a bit fuzzy (no pun intended) on the legs. Thanks for enduring the crochet pain to show us how you do it.

I'll put the photos together in a pdf this week, and we'll (DH and I) will make it available. And you're welcome... I'd love to take the credit you're giving me for being all altruistic, like that, but I have to tell you the truth... that I had to KNOW! Does it work for crochet? Yep! It does! Cool! heh heh I think there are lots of possibilities with it. I'm going to experiment more with the knitting version. I'll leave it to you crochet experts to see what else can be done with the crochet version. ;o)

I feel like that too, about sewing bits on. And to tell the truth, I get a little freaked out with all those millions of strings hanging when you're assembling - here's a graphic representation.. http://flickr.com/photos/knittycat/802003817/ ! heh heh
This whole idea is so simple, I can't imagine others aren't doing it somewhere, and I've just not come across it. I want to explore some more ideas with it... Ooo! and I've just thought of another one!! WooHOO! heh heh Oh, if only I had 6 hands and unlimited energy! ;o)
