Thanks, I'm glad you take such joy in pointing out how entertaining my girlish handwriting is. Remember I'm fathoms older than you, does that make me a cradle robber ( ... )

Maggie,

I hope you have fun with your two provinces. I can imagine they're cute kids if they look anything like you.

It seems your bear found your letter, I swear that thing hates me just because I'm white like she is and bigger than her.

Elections are almost over and it's been a long time since I've been this tired. So I apologize for how brief this letter is. How are things your way? England stopped by a few days ago to gloat about something. I didn't listen. All I caught was something about your railway and how it's costing a fortune.

Sorry for the tear on right side, caught Liz snooping and grabbed it from her.

iche liebe dich,

Gil.

Gilbert,

I don't think any of the provinces really look like me. Ontario, perhaps, or Nova Scotia has the same hair consistency and colour I do (merci, France). They are cute, though. I exhausted them to the point of both falling asleep on me, then had to wriggle my way out to come work on writing this. Honestly, the things I do for love these days...

Things are fine here; England should have nothing to complain about. If he would just give me my indepedence he wouldn't have to worry at all about the railroad or anything else. I can handle matters on my own. He's not putting a thing into the railway, if you ask me. Which you didn't, but there you have it.

I really do hope you're resting more, Gil. I don't like knowing you've got yourself exhausted again.

I love you

Maggie

Gilbert,

Rest, darn you. I need you to have all your strength by the time the holidays roll around, because I intend to spend most of my waking moments at Ireland's kissing you senseless. Which reminds me, unless something comes up or I'm invited elsewhere, I should be spending at least a week after Christmas with her. Would you be interested in staying, as well? She never minds visitors and besides, I'll ask anyway.

I'm glad to hear you're back in Berlin. A little bit of handywork (when you're not resting - which you should be!) will do you well. I do hope you were careful with those shingles. Tell your bruder he has to rest and feel better soon, too. Canada says so.

Yours,
Maggie

p.s. Ontario came up for a visit while the boys were here to show off her new camera. I managed to get a few of the prints to send to you. Enjoy. - M.

Gilbert,

Thank you. Thank you for the sweet letter and for passing on your brother's delicious kitchenwork and for that photograph I didn't even know existed. I'll cherish it always. We actually look like a couple, it's astounding. I love you.

English is the most pain-in-the-ass language I've ever learned and I would love to visit for Easter. I can't give a definite answer yet just in case something comes up here that I'll need to stay home, but consider this a tentative yes. I hope I can be there.

Lately, Francis has been encouraging me to work on artistic persuits, hence why you get a package, as well. Both of these paintings are the result of a few days work out in the woods surrounding my house. I'm no great artist, but I like to think I did the colours of the autumn leaves justice. I'm hoping you hang these somewhere you and your visitors will be able to appreciate them anyway, becuase I'm just slightly vain like that.

Be well, mo gradh.

Love,
Maggie

Maggie,

I didn't know that photo existed. Apparently Liz took the photo one afternoon and she was waiting until the right moment before she was going to reveal it.

I'm glad you're contemplating Easter. I know it is a ways off but it is still good to ask right? I told West and he smiled, I think he's finally starting to warm up to you. Don't worry, it take him much longer usually to even be conversational with other nations.

I'm glad Francis has been bugging you, but I will never understand your love of bears. Nonetheless I've found homes for your paintings, the waterfall being in my office and the one with the bear is in the hallway beside the portrait of some dead princess that gave us the painting. I personally hate it, she looks like one of the squish faced yappy little dogs in a ton of frills [your painting is now replacing that, thank you so much] so it needs to be destroyed or given to a gallery.

I love you, keep yourself well,

Gil.

Mon Prusse,

I address this letter as such because I was visiting Québec yesterday and found a history textbook referencing you. Of course, in French (I have always assumed it's just to annoy you), Prussia is a feminine noun. It made me laugh. And Québec look at me funny, but I've started to expect this from the provinces whenever I'm thinking about you. I can't help that you make me laugh.

Both news of West smiling over my possible visit and that you've found homes for my paintings please me. I was hoping you'd find somwhere to place them. With any luck, the bear will scare that portrait princess off, since you all seem so scared of them in Europe.

Ich liebe dich,
Maggie

P.S. Ireland's sent out her Christmas invitations. Don't forget to tell her you're coming. Furthermore, I checked with her about staying after the holiday and it appears we might actually have the house to herself for a few days, if her plans hold out the way they seem. She says she's supportive of us having alone time, provided she has a conversation with you
