Oh, God. A bacon/guacamole burger sounds SO good right now.
Lucky about the purse. That would NEVER happen where I live. I've been back within seconds after leaving one, and all present will STILL stand there and say nobody saw or knows a thing. Cell phones will disappear if you just turn around for a second, and there's only one or two people there- they know nothing about it!
It was the culture shock of my life in Portland when I left a phone at the neighborhood pub. The next time I went back, they had it, and said "hey, didn't you need your phone? How come you didn't come back?"
Cuz where I come from, if something gets lost, it's usually not lost, it's stolen, and you aren't getting it back. Even if it is lost- you aren't getting it back.
Not unless I'm the one that found it. Then you will.
Yeah, it's just something about Portland I guess. I once lost my wallet (it fell out of my purse) in the middle of Broadway boulevard smack in the middle of downtown when I was on my way to interview to be a docent at the Oregon Historical Society. This was in the days pre-cell phone. This punk looking guy with a mohawk retrieved it and spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get ahold of me. My mom and one of my brothers were at my house and got his call and we were able to go to his downtown apartment to pick it up! I gave the guy a couple of bucks for being a gentleman and returning it!
