Well, here is a brief update on my life at the moment:

Job - the new job is going fantastically!  I'm really getting into a groove here and have made myself useful from day 1.  I've been awfully busy and I get home exhausted, but that's OK.  It is great working for a company that really cares about its employees.

So, on Thursday at Press Coffee in the City North project in North Phoenix there is a latte art competition (my pic is a cool example of latte art).  I was asked to be a judge and I am REALLY excited.  It looks like we are going to have a lot of press - the local newspaper will be there and there is a rumor that a TV news crew will also be there.  ( Read more... )

I know I've been a little quiet lately. Things at work are going from bad to worse. They have closed the factory for two months (and still have not made the 'official' announcement that the factory is closed) and layoffs are coming in the next couple of weeks. There is a general feeling of apathy in the office and it is really not good.

My wife of almost 5 years finally admitted to me that she thinks I am a strange duck and, you know, I really think I am. I am not normal. Never have been. I depart from the crowd and I avoid the mainstream. I find pleasure in things that others simply gloss over. Take, for example, this whole car process. So, I saw a car on eBay last week that caught my eye. It was a local car and the auction ended before the reserve was met. Today the seller sent me an email asking me if I was still interested in the car and offered to let me do a test drive. I thought it would be great fun so I went to the dealer after work.

So I got hooked on Heroes the beginning of the first season.  I thought it started off well with a great, original story line and some pretty good writing and acting.  The most recent season, however, feels as if it has been written by a bunch of drunken monkeys.  Not good ( Read more... )

MY wife leaves for her job between 5:45 and 6:00am. Usually she kisses me goodbye and I fall back asleep for another hour or two. Today, however, things were a little different. After Margie left I fell back asleep but a phone call at 6:19am from the local hospital changed all of that.
