Movies: Drag Me To Hell

I was pretty jazzed going into this flick. Sam Raimi had finally returned to horror! Yay! I tried to read as little about it as possible. All I knew was that some chick was trying not  to, um, get dragged to Hell.

I'll cut right to the chase. Fairly Epic Fail.

I can't understand why this movie got such great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. All I can ( Read more... )

Well, that's disappointing. I had a pass for a preview showing that I didn't get to go to, but now I think I'm glad. Slamming on the Roma, not so much. Predictable does not help. Oh, Sam.

Yeah--I was HELLA disappointed. (OK that was a retarded joke.) I would say it's worth a rental, just for the few funny moments, but you probably want to do something else at the same time (embroidery or some-such) so you don't consider the time completely lost.

Remember the part in Evil Dead 2 where the evil spirit was jumping from one person to another, suddenly making them freaky and scary, and then jumping to another person? Raimi fucking RIPPED HIMSELF OFF in DMTH. Same scene. I was SO bummed.

I think people were SO desperate and happy that Raimi made anything at all, they jumped up and down like kids at a party to see something, anything ( ... )

OH, you know, you're right. It was right after she "confessed her sin" that she got nabbed and dragged. That's a very good point.

Did you notice that Raimi basically re-created the scene of the evil spirit jumping from person to person that worked so well in Evil Dead 2? What's the deal, has he fucking run out of ideas?

Yet another example of racism or at least bad characterization was the Mexican bruja's asking for 10,000 to help the girl. 20 years ago she swore revenge on the dumbass demon. But what, because she's a money-grubbing beeyach, she has to get payment before settling up HER score? Right.

Heh. If you haven't seen it, rent "Catacombs." It'll make you feel aaaaaall better re: women in horror flicks.

OH DUH I said that in my reply to Mila. Sorry, the whole "ripping himself off" thing just pissed me off so bad I can't see straight!
