Why this and not a hysterectomy? (Just askin'. I wouldn't want a hysterectomy either...)

Well, mostly it's the two-day recovery time vs. the two-to-eight-week recovery time from a hysterectomy. Also, the idea of not having my cervix anymore creeps me out. Heh.

I haven't started into that phase yet, but thsi procedure is supposed to cut down on actual menopause symptomos quite a bit when they come along. Again, I guess the ovaries take a lot of hormonal cues from the endometrial tissue, and when you don't have any of that, you don't get as much hormonal activity. Right now, I mostly just want to stop losing 1-3 days a month to hideous pain! I mean, I COULD just drink a lot of whiskey for three days until it stops hurting, but then there's that dang job thing. Heh.
