Do half the ads on TV have some form of repulsive emo-folk saccharine crapmusic as their soundtracks at the moment? It's either some light-voiced girlie singing about her soul or love or angels, or some light-voiced dude singing about how he feels like a little boy because his girl is an angel, or some other variety of evil shit

Oh gawd. Me too. It's even more grating when they are the background for all those faux-Oprah moments, like random people helping other random people (just like your insurance company does!) or some man giving his spoiled supermodel wife a diamond necklace. I also get irked when the ads use songs that actually have negative connotations. If you are going to use a song to push your product, shouldn't you at least understand the lyrics? I love "Dirty Jobs" to death, but every time I hear their new ad using the song "Monday, Monday" to talk about switching nights, I'm flummoxed. The song is about how Monday turns out to be the worst day of the week. "Can't trust that day." The worst was when Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines used Iggy Pop's song "Lust for Life" which is about drug addiction. Daphne

a pariotic-themed Wrangler jeans commercial that used "Fortunate Son"...the HP printer commercial that used "Pictures of You"...i figure Creedence and the the Cure are laughing all the way to the bank.

And let us not forget the car commercial that used "Walk on the Wildside" as background music. They seem to have left out the part about "giving head..."

I guess I can kind of understand the Discovery channel using Monday Monday, though. If I had to muck out a giant sewerpipe or something, it'd DEFINITELY be the worst day o the week.
