The nerd training continues...

I'm in training this week (Tues - Fri). It's at the same facility I went to last time, only for whatever reason, it's taking me a lot longer to get there this time. I have to choose between the lesser of two evils in the mornings (295 vs. 495) and apparently I've been choosing wrong, even after listening to traffic reports. You might want to check this entry from faireraven about 2 bills that the Gov. needs to sign. Perhaps you can encourage your friends to send a comment to Gov. O'Malley asking him to sign the bills and to counteract the input from the opposition. If they want to look up and read the bills, they can find them online at http://mlis.state.md.us/#bill.

Hmmmm....yep, it's a locked post. I copied her post and put it behind an LJ cut in a post with my message to Gov. O'Malley. You can take a look there if you'd like.

I *hate* it when people come to class who shouldn't be there. I had to teach a class last year. It was a pretty heavy technical administration class and there are two pre-requisites, plus the required "advanced knowledge of Windows."

The first day, one of the students couldn't figure out how to edit a text file, or how to open a DOS prompt, or how to open a browser. I had to tell her to keep her questions for breaks.

My partner, who actually came back today, relinquished control to me since I know what I'm doing and he clearly doesn't. So he reads the instructions and I quickly follow them...this approach seems to work much better.

One would think one would have to know some SQL programming before taking a class called SQL Reporting Services. sigh.
