fall anime I'm watching

1. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (obviously) - so far I'm loving it, though the compete cutting out of sex sort of makes me roll my eyes. In the first episode, it's obvious that something happened, and coupled with Ritsu's beer-induced amnesia,* I thought it worked pretty well. [Though Crunchyroll's translation of the "sempai" line as "Saga" failed utterly ( Read more... )

...They're doing a remake of HxH?! I did not know this...and I'm confused. It wasn't THAT old and it's not like the anime was bad...it just more was unfinished...cause the manga was...so very strange...

And yay for Sekaiichi starting back up again, knew it was coming back but hadn't realized it had already restarted *rushes off to go d/l* ^__^

Yeah, I don't get the HxH thing at all, either. I mean, I guess it's fun to watch it again, but...why this series? Why now?

Haha, oh yes, Chiaki's cluelessness is totally beyond plausibility. Honestly wish he would just go away and let me enjoy the couples I actually like. :/

(Also: I know we are not supposed to expect logic in our BL, but...Chiaki was checked in AND OUT of the hospital without ever waking up? REALLY?)

I'm letting Sekaiichi build up, so I'm never in the position where the next week is a Chiaki episode (i.e., where I would have to wait TWO weeks for more Ritsu). If, however, you get in the habit of posting weekly a la T&B, I shall probably ave to catch up immediately...unless you're still a premium member and watching the week they're release?

I had no idea the other two were on Crunchyroll! nokiirat has been talking about them (same comparison to Hikago, incidentally), but...I dunno...I somehow missed their listings? YAY! Anime! (Although I really did want to watch Natsume before getting swept away by something else.)

You're killing me, you know that, right?

I am. (That was a big reason I gave up Netflix discs--that money went to my shiny new Crunchyroll membership instead.)

To be fair, this season's shows are only on episode 3 right now, so I doubt you'll be getting "swept away" by anything yet. Still plenty of time for Natsume.

I have too much left over from last season(s) to know what to watch besides Sekai-ichi. So, nothing new for me, though I haven't investigated anything else anyway. If I can muster the motivation, I figure I should watch T&B or one of the other shows you all watched or talked about already.

[Note: In spite of my best efforts I left off half way in a LOT of shows (of varying mediums) this summer so I have catching up to do before I continue to whine about having nothing to watch.]

If you're looking for something else, you could watch Princess Jellyfish or Bunny Drop... just sayin'. :P

I am not so much LOOKING for something new as curious if there is anything out there I SHOULD be watching. If that makes sense.

I have not forgotten PJ or BD. Just looking for the right time/mood to marathon.

re, your spoiler: Crunchyroll's translation of [spoiler?] failed utterly for me.

How so? I admit that I'm always confounded when they leap over honorifics that serve as forms of address (add aniki and neesan, etc. to the list of difficult-to-localize forms of address), but if they had to eliminate the honorific, surely they made the best choice they could...assuming the viewer remembers the significance of the name. I mean, the worst choice would have been Masamune. And Takano would have missed the point altogether. And I pretty much exposed the spoiler with this paragraph.

Probably. I certainly can't think of a better way to do it. I guess when I say it fails for me, I mean the original line was like SUPER MOE for me, whereas the translated line just does nothing for me. (He...forgot Takano's name?) So, it failed in that sense, not in the failed as a translation sense. (Well...is a translated line that makes you feel something different than the original line really a successful translation? That's debatable, I guess.)

Honestly, I find the elimination of honorifics annoying at best, but when you're talking about a show with a niche audience like this one, I don't get the reasoning at all. So it just annoys me on that level, every time honorifics are left out like that. (See also: "Rittie." Because...UGH.) Though at least they don't randomly make the characters use given names, like in Hikaru no Go. :/
