fall anime I'm watching

1. Sekaiichi Hatsukoi (obviously) - so far I'm loving it, though the compete cutting out of sex sort of makes me roll my eyes. In the first episode, it's obvious that something happened, and coupled with Ritsu's beer-induced amnesia,* I thought it worked pretty well. [Though Crunchyroll's translation of the "sempai" line as "Saga" failed utterly for me.] But the second episode was like...they had sex there, right? I had to go look at my manga to make sure.

*collarnojutsu, I don't know if you remember this, but we once had a conversation about Ritsu being in denial, and I said there was one specific example where he was actively trying to not remember something. I was talking about this episode, and please also see a line early in the second episode.

Next episode will be Chiaki. :/

2. Hunter x Hunter remake - It seems to me like this version is moving a lot faster than the original. (Which is OK, because I found some of the filler in the original a little tiresome.) The new cast is REALLY weirding me out, though. Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio's actors all seem to be doing their best to imitate the original actors. They do a pretty good job, although it was obvious to me right away that it was a new cast. (Really, really miss Takeuchi Junko as Gon.) When we meet Hisoka and Killua, though, they sound COMPLETELY different, which is even more disorienting. I wish they had gone all or nothing with trying to match the original cast.

To be honest, though, I'm still not sure what the POINT of this remake is. Surely the original isn't so old that we can't watch it anymore? It's just strange.

3. Chihayafuru - This is like Hikaru no Go, only with karuta. And the main character is a girl. And I think there's a love triangle? OK, so not really that much like Hikaru no Go, but you guys it is so rad when Arata throws the cards so hard they end up embedded in a wall. The characters are really fun, too, although Taichi is as annoying as all get-out. (Hopefully he gets better, I don't know.) But Chihaya is hilarious and Arata is adorable and I sort of love the big teddy bear dude who runs the local karuta club.

Anybody else watching something worth checking out?
