We just found out from our reception site that there is no alcohol permitted in the church or on the properties. Many of our friends have indicated (jokingly) that they are only coming if there is an open bar. They are joking, of course, but they do intend to drink. i got married may 08 and we have a TON of unopened bottles of red/white wine leftover! we (and our families and friends) are not wine drinkers and while i may keep one bottle of each (these are those bigger bottles of wine, for parties) for cooking, i don't know what to do with the rest! we purchased them at the state liquor store and if i remember ( Read more... )

Has anybody here had a signature cocktail at their wedding reception? We are having unlimited beer and wine and one signature cocktail. Any ideas on what we should do? What do you think about cash bar vs. open bar? Our friends over at "the knot" tell us that it's not c-lassy to have guests pay for drinks. I agree in principle, but the suggested starting budget in their workbook is 30K. We're working with half of that.
