Lately we've been trying to figure out an overall budget for our wedding. We're thinking between $10K-$15K Does anyone have their budget's laid out in that price-range?? I'd really like to see them, I feel like random costs keep popping up x_x weddings are expensive.

Secondly, we want to ask my uncle to be the officiant at our wedding, but I'm ( Read more... )

From what I've learned here is that the location of your wedding will greatly affect the cost of things. Metropolitan areas will generally have higher prices, for example. It will also depend on how much you DIY/have friends or family do for you.

For some examples, we got married in a mid-size city in Wisconsin, and I think we ended up spending 7K on our wedding. The biggest costs for us were food/drink/rental of the reception hall at around $4,000 and $1500 for our photographer. But a lot of other things we really lucked out on. My MIL and two of her sisters did our flowers, decorations, and made our cupcakes. A friend helped us make our invitations. We have several musician friends who did the music for our ceremony. My MOH's mom did my dress alterations...the list goes on. There are lots of ways like that to save money, so it depends on your resources, and as others have said, what your priorities are.

Oh, and obviously, your guest list plays a large part in how much you spend, so as another reference point, we had about 175 guests in attendance.

That's roughly what our wedding cost (DC area, 2010). Here is the rough breakdown not including rings (we financed those separately/didn't include them in the wedding budget ( ... )

weddings ARE expensive. i just finalized our budget this weekend and it's double what we had originally thought we wanted our wedding to cost if you include the honeymoon and rings.

Our budget is a tentative $12k, for a 100 guest wedding in November in Indianapolis.
-Food/ceremony/alcohol/reception venue/possibly cake are all rolled together and are around $5k.
-Photography for EVERYTHING is looking to be around $3k, but we haven't signed anything yet.
-We're going to have to be conservative about everything else - flowers, dress, tux, gifts, stationary, centerpieces, favors, etc. But that's fine with us, as we decided from the beginning that we wanted to prioritize food, alcohol, and photography over everything else.
-Probably honeymoon will be a separate budget for us, which is fine by me as it's something that's going to last more than a day.

our budget is in the 15k range. we didn't really have a budget but just wanted to stay as low as possible (didn't do a great job of that b/c we had a hard time finding a reception place). it's nice because we both have older siblings who have offered to take on little things like the invites, flowers, and my dress, so those don't really figure in. i'm sure i forgot something ( ... )
