Peacock Wedding

Aug 10, 2010 13:02

Not my wedding. But one I was at on Saturday helping out with flowers.

MaDonna and Ladell's theme was peacock. So I set about using purple, blue, aqua, and feathers in the arrangements. Overall, I'd say it wasn't half bad.

Non pro photos ( pictures here! )

theme: peacock

Absolutely stunning - obviously really hard work but it paid off.

I love the buttonholes and the ringbearer's pillow :o)

Wow, beautiful. I wish I had made my own centerpieces, because these are incredible and exactly what I was looking for when I went to a florist.

Thank you! I'm not sure I would recommend making your own CPs like this. They're very time consuming. I tracked how long it took me. Thurs I was up for 14hrs just prepping and stripping flowers. Then on Friday, I woke up at 3AM to start building, and stayed awake working through the day and night. I had a 20min nap, and finished the CPs at 6:30AM on Saturday, and then started building the personal flowers so we could be on the road by 10AM.

Out of curiosity, how much did the florist quote you when you talked to them about such an arrangement?

As usual, your work in incredible. I love the design of the rose petals on the aisle. I was quoted $135.00 a centerpiece for something similar to what you did here so I hope you charged her accordingly (whoops this wasn't in response to Lalanav but you know what I mean!)

Yeah, ultimately the time commitment was what made me decide against it! I'm just saying that because these are SO beautiful, and really, my centerpieces were a disappointment and not really what the florist and I had discussed. The day of, she ended up saying the branches were a gift and that instead of taking them from the base at the end of the night, she would just allow guests to take them home - but the branches ended up being much smaller than they were supposed to be - they didn't look like manzanitas at all, but rather like branches gathered from the road after a rain storm. I suspect that's why she 'gifted' them to me to give out to my guests. Oh well! No sense crying over spilled milk, right? The centerpieces were nice, they were just not what I had asked for, what we had discussed, or what the pictures I'd given her displayed.

The florist quoted me $125 per centerpiece - but it was to rent the branches. I think she said it would have been $185 per if I had planned to buying the branches from her.

I've been dying to do it also! Just make sure yout venue is not too breezy and your guests have a way to get to their seats other than from the center so they don't step on the petals!
