Peacock Wedding

Not my wedding. But one I was at on Saturday helping out with flowers.

MaDonna and Ladell's theme was peacock. So I set about using purple, blue, aqua, and feathers in the arrangements. Overall, I'd say it wasn't half bad.

Centerpieces were giant 4" manzanita branches. Mounting them in their boxes was a combo of plaster of paris and foam sealant stuff. It was then topped off with moss, ice blue painted rocks with pieces of green orchids and peacock feather eyes. Foam sealant and I... we don't play too well together btw.

A couple notes about manzanita branches. They flake, they are not that smooth brown year round. In order to get that, they have to be cleaned. Then there is a spray paint by design master called "October Brown" which is the exact shade of the natural manzanita branches. It is also flower friendly.

Around each centerpiece we placed three sets of 7" tall cylinder vases with a submerged orchid and floating 3" candle and 2 4" votives. The rocks came from Candles4less along with the 4" tall votives and candles. The 7" vases came from Dollar Tree. For those of you considering submerged flowers... it's not JUST a matter of plopping flowers into a vase full of water. Flowers are lighter than water, and therefore float. You have to weigh each piece down. Myself, I used fishing wire and a fishing sinker which I hid among the rocks.

Love the graphic designer's work BTW. A girl from Project Wedding.

Toss Bouquet

Ceremony area was fairly simple setup. I used two more branches. I also covered the columns in purple fabric which I already owned from a previous wedding but never used. (Originally purchased at the fashion district.) I had some extra hydrangea so I used that among the tulle that had been hung. And then we laid out a pattern for the aisle with cool water rose petals.

LOVE the ring bearer pillow. For those of you that are curious... those pins that are in the perfect shade? Originally white, I hand painted each with purple nail polish.

MaDonna wanted to watch the processional, but she didn't want anyone to see her, the solution was to hold up a black cloth she could peer through.

Recessional

Anyway, after the ceremony, Anne and I tore down, ran back to the reception to beat the guests there and decorate the cake since it was late in getting there. We then snuck up to the bridal suite and decorated it with rose petals and extra flowers!
