While I was creating our registries [Macy's and Target], I put on things that we needed/wanted, but hadn't purchased for ourselves yet. I also put upgrades to items that we currently had already: new bed set, new cookware, etc.
It's your chance to request EXACTLY what you want. Go for it.
We haven't done our registry yet, but we're planning on two places, Kohl's and Target. I'm definitely putting bedding on there, but I personally would probably not put something like a face trimmer on the registry. I don't know if this is "right" or even matters, but I see the point of wedding gifts as being something for the house or something we would *both* use, so a face trimmer just seems too much of a gift just for the man, and would be more appropriate for a birthday or Christmas. Granted, if we register for something like tools, while they're for the house, my fiance will probably get *way* more use out of them...but it just doesn't seem the same. Sure, I'd probably benefit from a face trimmer, too, lol, but since I'll more than likely end up writing the thank you notes, it just seems like it will be easier if I can say how much we both like/use/needed the gift without sounding a little weird. But like I said, that's just me, so take that as you will. I also personally am not a fan of honeymoon registries just because it's too

We pretty much put anything and everything we saw and liked on our registry. Everything that we own is either cheap stuff we own from college, or cheap stuff we bought right after college, so even though we already have a lot of things we wanted to upgrade them to things that would last us long-term. We have a lot of essentials (bedding, towels, cookware, etc.), but also some random decorative things that we liked and thought people might want to buy us

Everywhere I've read says that you should have 2 - 3 registries so people have variety, so you're good to go :) I'm totally putting that Kitchenaid mixer on mine, too!
We had Macy's and Target. I was surprised how much high quality stuff there was to register for at Target. We didn't really need Macy's in the long run.
If you want the face trimmer, don't sweat it too much. You will get plenty of stuff, and you may end up with some duplicates if people buy from the store and don't tell them it's from the registry. Once we saw the total haul, we ended up exchanging a fair number of items. You'll end up with enough store credits to trade in for the trimmer.
