We'll definitely be asking for help from our parents and grandparents--all of who definitely know their way around a kitchen. I think we might cook a bunch of chicken breast the day before and then, the day of, they can be tossed with apricots/sauce and heated through. With some more looking, I think we can figure out another option or two that could be semi-prepped the day before to cut down on the day-of stress.

Since it was at a church hall, am I right to assume that tables, linens, and warming trays were free to use? Or did you end up buying/renting certain things?

All-in-all though, that sounds perfect. Kent's grandparents have offered us $500 for the rehearsal and we'll be feeding less than half the number you did. We will be furnishing alcohol though so I should add that to our list of things to buy.

I'm probably going to DIY mine to a certain extent, and by that I mean have it at my house and order in a trays of bbq from Spring Creek round the corner for everyone! lol!

We did a 35ish person rehearsal dinner backyard bbq. It was incredibly cost effective, because we went to Costco and got bulk boxes of hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers, a huge tub of potato salad, big bags of chips, a tray of brownies, a fruit and veggie platter, and cases of various drinks. My husband and I actually bought everything the day before and then had our dads man the grill. We didn't actually MAKE the food, I guess you could say, since everything was pre-packaged and ready to go, but we did cook it at home NOT at a restaurant and were really glad we did it that way. It was SO MUCH CHEAPER. And more relaxed.

We DIYed the entire reception. We planned for about 75.

I mentioned in a post last week that my entire wedding cost less than $1500, and that was because we DIYed everything.

We purchased trays of appetizers at BJs and used 3 crock pots (some borrowed) to serve several types of hot meat balls. We also had cold sandwiches (meat/cheese platter) and all the trimmings for sandwiches, veggies & dip, potato salad, macaroni salad, and 2 kinds of punch. We also had a private wedding ceremony on the 5th and the reception on the 6th, so we had all say on the 6th to prepare food and set up, which really helped.
