First, a big yay that my partner thomwatson has joined the community! (His intro is here, and here's mine to refresh your memories.) Thanks for being so welcoming. Now that we're both on here, we kid about it:

Me: Yeah, I better do that soon ... or you will!

We economized some by going with digital printing rather than real letterpress, and it's hard for me -- a quasi-designer -- to tell the difference; their digital printing is quite high-quality. And we're having a small to medium size wedding, so could have made do with 50 (but bought 75); if you had a bigger wedding, the prices at Hello!Lucky certainly could become get pretty dear, but the quality and the design really are outstanding. And they're easy and delightful to work with.

That's actually something I feel some guilt about. I have lots of time on my hands these days, and had intended to design our stationery, but just never got around to it and time slipped up on me; plus, once I saw these at Hello!Lucky, I no longer could imagine anything I could do that would fit the theme any better -- and in our colors already! it must be fate ;) -- and it already was getting late in terms of needing to get the STDs out... Ah, good intentions.

Letting this opportunity pass me by, though, did finally spur me to start thinking more seriously about the rest of the planning, and I think we're hoping/expecting to be much more DIY in terms of favors, placecards, programs, menus, etc., and maybe even the invitations.

I love the very Mary Blair-ish (the graphic designer for Disney's It's a Small World, among others) feel to Hello!Lucky's designs with Lab Partners. I also just bought an adorable print, also a collaboration between Hello!Lucky and Lab Partners), that has that same feel:

Love them!!

Hey, I have a weird question about your last name - What nationality/heritage is it? I ask because my last name is Tabak =)

Cool, not a weird question at all ... my family is from the Philippines. Tabaco is probably most recognizable as meaning "tobacco" in Spanish, but an interesting side note is that there's a town in the Philippines called Tabaco, and the folklore is that its name is derived from an indigenous Filipino word for "sword" (tabak).

Wow, that's so interesting! Thanks for sharing.

My last name Tabak comes from my grandfather, who was born in Poland. It's so rare - we can't find any relatives with the name so we're not sure if it was changed when we came to Canada after the war.

My dad's family is Polish, too, and we were wondering the same thing! That is, until Facebook came around and I searched for my last name. There are a handful of us, lol. ;)

Yay, Poland!
