I was at a local discount store last week, and I found the perfect idea for centerpieces. Centerpieces have been the bane of my wedding plans, because I had NO FREAKING CLUE what I was going to have. But this, this is perfect.

centerpieces, cake: alternatives, do it yourself, cake

that's awesome! the only thing I'd worry about is that they will dry out if you make them the day before...

I can say from experience that no, they don't dry out. The bride in a wedding I was in this past summer made all the cupcakes for her reception, and they were ridiculously delicious. I'm not sure if she did anything to them, but they were moist and yummy.

The decorating party was the most fun. The wedding party + friends were all there, fooling around and eating frosting from jars.

...I think it works fine if you put them in sort of tupperware-like containers, the big flat ones...I personally am against freezing, because I haven't yet had frozen stuff that didn't taste at least a little nasty from someone's freezer, but that's just my feelings on it: that cake is too good to mistreat! ahahaha!

They would freeze well, could just be thawed the day before and then iced.
