Although anything can happen anywhere...personally, I wouldn't because it's not like hurricanes are actually rare in the Caribbean. September is the peak part of the hurricane season too. On the other hand, September is a very popular wedding month and I'm sure many couples have gone on Caribbean honeymoons during that month. I guess you just have to weigh the pros and cons of it and maybe develop a Plan B if you see that a major hurricane is approaching shortly before your wedding/honeymoon.
I have to agree with the first commenter. The caribbean isn't really the place to be during hurricane season. I grew up in South Florida and inevitably even if the hurricanes wouldn't hit us they'd hit down there. My suggestion is to just wait til the season is over. Go over halloween or something, maybe they have some really amazing parties. Also, if you can push it out until December or January those are wonderful times. Good luck!
That's another possibility- I just love the idea of whisking away for a week directly after but I guess it doesn't matter that much, especially if it means much better weather!
of course it's up to you, but I like the idea of spacing out all the fun times. so we get to be all excited for the wedding and then when that is over we still get to be all excited for the honeymoon.
Im traveling to Sandals Antigua at the end of october, and while that isnt peak hurricane season its still a possibility. So because of that we bought travelers insurance, we can cancel for any reason up to 24 hrs before we go. So if we are watching the news and see that there is a nasty hurricane brewing down there we can just cancel and go another time. Even if you werent traveling during hurricane season travelers insurance is always a good thing to have anyways, in case you get sick or something happens to a loved one you always have that option to cancel without much or any penalty at all.
