What to register for?

FH and I would like to build our own home one day. As such, while I've never been okay asking for money, we know that cash would be the best gift for us. Gifts, of course, are just icing on the cake - we really just want people to come and enjoy our celebration ( Read more... )

Well, I love my china, and that is the #1 thing I wanted. But the other things on the registry that we've gotten and loved have been our rice cooker / steamer (especially useful as we are currently kitchenless) and our waffle iron.

There isn't much that we "needed," because if I needed it, I would have gotten it, but it's nice to have nice things to pull out on those family occasions.

1. http://www.mywedding.com/jodiandfrank2008/registries.html
2. Since we just bought our first home and it's the first time either of us have been on our own, there's a lot of stuff that we need for the house. Bedding, towels, we put Roombas on there since we don't have a vacuum cleaner, and anything that helps with storage (shelves, organizers, etc).

3 & 4, can't help ya.

Hey! You're getting married the day before me!

I loved our Amazon registry. Not only can you register for pretty much anything, but you can specify whether it's something you would love to have, you would like to have, or would just be nice to have. Our registry is here; I think we got all of our "love to have" items (including Home Buying for Dummies - very useful book!).

We also registered at Macy's (here) so we'd have some nice towels, sheets, cutlery, and cookware; otherwise I'd never buy them for myself. Those are the things that I have been enjoying the most so far. I also heart my coffeemaker and stemless wine glasses.

My favorite non-registry gift was an HD camcorder from my brother-in-law, who's a manager at Best Buy. :)

We registered at Ten Thousand Villages. Fair Trade and awesome! http://www.tenthousandvillages.com/catalog/registry/registry.view.php?id=1910 My family really had a great time discovering the stores.

My first registry is at Macy's. It's just some fine china(not the 5-place settings because I realized I will probably never use that, so just fine china dinner plates, accent plates and 2 platters in the same pattern). I registered for crystal, flatware, a lot of Nambe pieces, and decorative pieces that I know will have sentimental value over the years. I also registered for towels and bedsheets.

My second registry is at Williams Sonoma for a Le Crueset set, some other good pots, mixer, everyday china, serveware, baking stuff.
