FH and I would like to build our own home one day. As such, while I've never been okay asking for money, we know that cash would be the best gift for us. Gifts, of course, are just icing on the cake - we really just want people to come and enjoy our celebration.
However, we've decided that we really should register for some things, for a few reasons. One, I know I dislike giving people money, and I'm sure there are plenty of other people like me. Two, we might as well let people know the kinds of things we like/want/need so they have an idea of what to get us, should they buy off the registry or not.
We have chosen to register at myregistry.com which is basically a conduit that allows you to add items from any website that exists, along with items only found in brick and mortar stores.
We have a really cute way of bringing up the topic of registries on our website www.mywedding.com/divine wedding [parts of it were graciously taken from a bride here - thanks for the inspiration!], but I've been told by multiple family members that we need to register for more stuff.
We don't like 'stuff'. Fancy china, crystal stemware, and KitchenAid mixers just aren't us. Utilitatian, unique, quirky, eco-friendly...those genres describe us...
So I come looking for ideas.
1. Please post a link to your registries, if you're comfortable doing so. I would love to use you all for inspiration!
2. What are some things you registered for that you really REALLY want?
3. For the already-married, what are some gifts you got that you didn't register that you truly love?
4. And finally, if you have links to eco-friendly or fair-trade gift sites, please post them. We love uncommongoods, vivaterra, gaiam so far!
