Garter and Bouquet Toss

Jun 30, 2008 13:13

After recently attending a wedding, I realized how much I hate the traditional bouquet and garter toss. However, I still want to toss my bouquet and was thinking having all females come up for it- but I wouldn't do the garter toss.

So my question is, how are you doing the bouquet and garter toss if you are doing it?

traditions: garter toss, traditions: bouquet toss

I didn't do either, but my favorite variation is having all the married men come up for the toss, so the winner can give the bouquet to his wife.

I will do the bouquet toss, but I am getting a smaller toss bouquet so I can keep my big one, since it's silk. I am not sure yet about the garter toss but as of right now it looks like we will be doing that but I have to ask FH if he wants to or not.

im going to gift my bouquet to my sister... she needs it most. LOL!

otherwise, not doing either - our friends are older and mostly coupled up - i dont think anyone's going to miss it - though i wanted to be the one to catch it at FH's brother's wedding last year and they didnt do it.

We did an anniversary dance - where the couple that was married the longest (60 years!) was presented with the bouquet.

We did this as well and it was a hit.

It made for so many great photo ops of the longest-married couples at our wedding and it was a really sweet moment when I gave my bouquet to a family friend who has been married to her amazing husband for 57 years. I asked them for their "secret" and the videographer got it all on the wedding dvd, which is also really cool.

We opted against the garter toss entirely, because my husband and I had no interest in our grandparents and other relatives watching him dig under my dress and such. No one missed it and I was thankful to have the extra time for dancing!

We're going to ask all males and females to come up for the garter and bouquet toss. I don't want to single out the singles or leave out a married woman who might want to catch the pretty bouquet.
