HSMP to Tier one visa reapplication irritation

I just found out as a part of the application for the new work permit that I have to prove I have £800 in the bank at all times for three months before my application. (See Tier 1 - general - guidance for where I'm getting this info. If I applied in June I'd only need one month's proof, but I don't think I'm eligible to apply until July 21st - one ( Read more... )

You are sweet. Hopefully we can make this work somehow but it's very frustrating as we've just got all of our debt paid off and wanted to start making the US balance go UP again! We're researching what to do right now.

I haven't scanned the guidance PDF in great detail, but I didn't see any requirement the money be in a British bank account - can't you just supply statements from your American account?

It's paragraph 192 - I don't see any specification for UK, but it doesn't include anything for non-UK, either, so I assumed UK only.

The other thing that occurred to me is: can you set up an ISA or other high-interest bank account over here & stick the money in that? Or does it actually have to be in your current account?

Yeah, the clothing would at least make it clear. I'm guessing something like bowler hats and appropriate coats.
