Her work is incredible. When she reopened her commission queue I jumped on the chance to get something from her, even without having something specific in mind at the time. XD
I think I am a bit late in finding these, but: Those are so beautiful! I love the color choices, and the stripe pattern on the mittens is great.
I was by chance wondering if you could point me in the direction of the patterns for the hats. I would love to try making them myself! The beanie style hat looks a little different from the pattern I have, and I have never even seen a pattern for the bucket style hat. I love how the top and tassels look, and I think the folded up brim with the garter stitch is awesome!
Hm, well the beanie I just made up as I went along, decreasing for the top in such a way as not to spiral, just because I felt like it. The bucket hat is one of my own devising, as well. I do have it written up, but it's never really "come out of beta" as it's a pattern on how to use patterns.
Is the bucket hat by chance going to come out of beta any time soon? I would even be willing to pay (as long as it doesn't empty my small bank, of course, lol) *hopes* I really can't explain how much fell in love with it :)
May I please also ask how you attached the tassel to the top of the beanie? It looks like it is an i-cord (which I have never done but have seen instructions for). Is it knitted directed from the hat? Or are the two knitted separately and then sewn together?
I am sorry I am asking so much! I have pretty much only made Harry Potter scarfs and one hat, so I am trying to expand my horizons a little :) Even though mittens and socks and sweaters and pretty much everything else intimidate me, lol
No problem! If you're willing to give me your honest working opinion on the pattern, I'll email you the pdf. :) Just give me an email address to send it to.
The tassels are made separately. Basically, I take the tail left at the top of the hat, and crochet chain in it something like 6 times and then sew the end down to make a small loop. The tassels are joined together by a longer crochet chain. I pull that longer crochet chain through the loop on the top of the hat and then pull the ends with the tassels through it to make a girth hitch or lark's foot knot. That way it can be removed if one isn't feeling silly, etc.
Oh, and mittens and socks are easy, but not necessarily less knitting than sweaters. ;) It depends on what weight yarn you're using and how fancy the socks/mittens are. :)
