At church yesterday, I was seated next to an ex- professor from Earlham College  who had written a book on William Penn and his theology.  This guy is doing a "Quaker 101" series at the church.  Next week, the topic goes from basic history facts to Inner Light theology.

This is such a coincidence as I have been working on this William Penn/Pen of J. ( Read more... )

Hi! How are you doing? I was just thinking how much I miss all our posting and carrying on back in the HPANA thread.

I didn't know you were Quaker. Small world. Speaking of Quakers, have you read any of Phil Gulley's books? He is so very funny. He pastors the church (I suppose I should say Meeting) where I am attending lately. Back at seminary, they kept going on about how great he was. Years later, I finally read his books, and discovered that they were right.

I'm doing wonderfully and you? I'm writing my junior IS on harry potter-taking a feminist literary perspective on it.
I'm the other kind of quaker-with no pastor.
And no i haven't. Likely because he's more popular in the evangelical quaker side rather than the liberal.

Gulley is about as liberal as they come. One more step over, he'd be a Unitarian Universalist.

There is a lot about Quakerism I don't know for sure.

What's an IS? That is a very interesting topic you have there on feminist literary perspective. Are you questioning why she had a male protagonist instead of a female? I always wondered.
