fic: Bloodbuzz [Southland, Cooper/Sherman]

I saw these pictures of Ben and Michael from The Glass Menagerie’s opening night, and I couldn’t stop wondering: What would it take to get Cooper in a suit? Also there was this.

So I did this:

Bloodbuzz

This is great. I love the give and take, the way they're both sure and unsure and how obvious John is, even though he thinks he's hiding it. Mmmmm.

oh, thank you so much - john is sooooo obvious, no matter how many times he tells himself he's not.

GET IT.

I still love Cooper shopping and hating it, and I like how overwhelmed he is about getting something he didn't let himself want out loud. And I ESPECIALLY like how sneak attack romantic they are, at the end, just for a moment. That last line killed me in the best way.

GET IT. thank you for egging me on with this story, for real.

and yay romantic sneak attack - my favorite thing about writing characters who have a significant age difference (or i guess, like, world-weary life difference? though in this case they are better matched in that area) is how the younger one can, like, change everything just by having a little bit of unguarded hope. ben believes he can get a room, that he can have a tomorrow, and so he says and does those things without really fighting them the way cooper would have to if they were his idea first. but then once they're out there - cooper can just go along with the mood. the forward momentum.
