... All in favor of getting away from the terrifying child, say "Aye"!

Because, you know? Siding with the slightly less homicidal, static-warped voice doesn't sound like half a bad plan, at this point.

!event, oh primus why, fragging town, totally head of household gaiz, fml, i was once a protector of mechs, surrounded by drones, not as planned

I...I don't know. If he was really trying to help us, why did he do all that stuff at Christmas?

I don't mean him, actually. The other voice on the recording... "Jane".

That woman? She sounded really afraid. [pensive,] I don't think she can do anything to help us, though.

... It might be worth a try.

[Not!son has been pretty quiet since Christmas, but he also heard that phone call a little while ago..]

Do you really think he wants to help us?

[He's not being cynical, he's honestly curious about Sideswipe's opinion..]

[Not!Dad is just glad to see you're all right, kiddo. Reasonably speaking.]

I don't know about him. But the other woman... "Jane". She sounded genuine.

[Yeeaah, he'll be dealing with mental trauma for a while yet, but will eventually get over it.]

You mean Samantha Achewood....

But people have tried to break through her droning before. I think they watch her more closely than the others.

... That's who she was?

[He couldn't remember much, aside from that name.]

She... seemed aware though. At least, a little bit. Didn't she?

Was that Lucy at the end of the show?

She sounded like an adult...

[and like a man too, but THIS IS WHAT PART WE FOCUS ON]

I'm not sure whether I want to hope it was her, or not.

... she sounded wrong is how she sounded.

Static generally isn't a good thing, no. Perhaps she has a fake voice, and it was starting to malfunction?

But that's not all... this is the first time I've ever seen something like this on the TV. It's always the radio or whatever.

Which begs the question; Who was filming? How did they evade notice?

Why would a drone need to distort their voice?

I... yes. I haven't seen anything like it either. It's... new.

[He scoffs.] You're so sure what we saw wasn't intentional?

As much as I hate ta say it, I think we're pretty goddamn screwed in this situation. {IT IS VERY HARD FOR HIM TO ADMIT THINGS LIKE THAT.]

Sounds 'bout right, pally. I don't know what that Lucy kid's got planned but it ain't gonna be pretty.

But what are we supposed to do about it? Besides siding with the mailman?

One does not always have to take sides.

So... you'd rather lay around and do nothing?

I said nothing of the sort! But in some situations, neutrality is the most preferable route to avoid a Bad End.

I tend to find that neutrality gets you horribly murdered. Or gets others horribly murdered.
