I've been "running" for two or three years. It's just that I typically can't do above 5.7 mph without dying. But today I just ran through the death.

6.0 mph is, btw, apparently the minimum pace acceptable to be called running rather than jogging.

Never going to do an ultramarathon, though. :)

I'm not sure where it came from. But if I can get back into, and surpass, the shape I was in when thewronghands and I did a 4-miler in 85-degree heat in Virginia two summers ago, I'll be happy about it.

If I can EVER do a single-digit-minute mile, especially if I can do it 3.11 times, that'll be rad. The lower the digit, the better, but I'm not getting any younger. Or skinnier.

Maybe I'll pretend I'm you. I don't mean that to be creepy: Pretending I'm somebody stronger and faster than me actually helps, I find, with running and free weights. Visualization, maaaan.

I didn't check today, though I thought of it. I do want to try their sandwiches, since you mentioned them, but Novel Cafe is a trivial walk from my place, so, it will win out. And the staff are cute.

If you play it about 3.75 times, you will get through the 5K!

PodRunner is calling you.
Set BPM mixes for all the various speeds you might want to try.
