My first article just got preempted. Meaning some punk at Arizona State University beat me to publishing a substantially similar - in fact, at first glance, better - article on the same damn topic.

Your article is still being published, right? In that case don't worry about it, pick up, and move on to the next thing. If your article is not being published for some reason, then go out and do something to forget it, pick up, and move on to the next thing. This happens, unfortunately, and there's not much to do except keep trying...

I think it will still be published; that may be up to the board and faculty advisors of the journal. Probably I'll just have to rewrite it to make it more of a Special and Unique Snowflake, publish it months from now, and thereby add it to the marketplace of ideas on the subject.

Well. Second article. The one I blogged about before is actually published and therefore out of the woods.

Damn thing's probably gonna get published anyway, I just have to find a way to make it not lame and duplicative of this article that beat mine to the presses.

You do what any self-respecting adult would do: set up a sock-puppet email address, google them until you find contact info, and send them a message saying "BITCH U STOLE MY ThUNDER!!!"
