Damn, you TLC!

So we've been letting Drew watch some shows every morning on TLC. Up until this morning, they've had a set of shows generally grouped under the "Ready, Set, Learn" moniker that included Ready Set Learn (with Paz the penguin and his three friends, plus Big Penguin and Pappi), then Peep and the Big Wide World, followed by more Ready Set Learn, ( Read more... )

*headdesk*

NO! NO! The boys just became addicted to Hi-5!

*checks Dish Network America's 200*

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

It's bad enough that I dropped Comcast for Dish when they moved Noggin from standard cable to digital. I can't afford to up my Dish Network package to chase these shows. Guess I'll be dubbing the shows on the DVR to DVD ASAP.

I guess since the boys have seen all the Peeps and Bigfoots that this isn't as bad as it could have been 6-12 months ago.

"Peep and Quack! Peep and Quack! Peep and Quack!" That's all I hear in the morning after Drew gets his milk and a banana.

"Sorry, buddy...TLC dropped those shows..." didn't cut it this morning. So we made a fort and read Dear Zoo instead. But there was still much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

/Also, Hi-5 is awesome. Jenn was my favorite for a while but we all think Curtis is the best.

I wrote to TLC and voiced my opinion on the swich - my 22 month old daughter loved her "moo moo" wilbur show. She is still asking for it. Maybe if more people write to them, they will make the switch back? We have digital cable - but only in the living room - not in the kitchen where she eats breakfast. I did DVR it so she could see an episode that night before bed - but, the morning shows were perfect. I actually liked them better than some PBS shows.

I agree! anonymous October 1 2008, 02:27:10 UTC
I had the same reaction on Monday. I even have the tv set to automatically come on. And to my surprise I was watching commercials. That was the best thing about the ready set learn block. NO commercials! I don't have the desire to upgrade to the largest package available just to see Wilbur. So I guess we will be switching to Disney and watching the stupid nesting dolls praise the plumber as a hero.
