I think your course of action is clear: amputate at the neck.

Okay, so that's the recommended procedure to deal with the infection, and makes total sense (coming from Son-of-Doctor-Guy).

However, did you get to the part about how you fell off of a garage, and they might want to check the rest of the arm (especially the bones), eh? Surface infection easy. Hairline fractures, deep bone bruises, etc., not so much.

I can hear Whiff now: "Dumbass."

I mentioned the fall from the garage multiple times. They seemed non-plussed. Plus, I'm not in any sort of pain or anything. A little uncomfortable with the oozing sore (and it itches like a mofo) but otherwise, I'm a picture of health. A vision of good livin'*.

*good thing they haven't checked my liver, either!

Good. The fact that you can actually still use the arm is probably sign enough that there's nothing horribly wrong going on. So, antibotic time!
