In Which Sam and Ruby get Married...

Sam had decided to wait until they had Ben back and had made their way back to Seattle before having the wedding. They really were not planning on anything big - let's face it, Sam and Ruby hadn't made a lot of friends in the last two decades. But there were family and a few friends who would be welcome, and Sam was someone who really cared about ( Read more... )

After the wedding was over, Ben had snuck upstairs for a moment to get a quick breather from all the emotional static downstairs. Even with it being happy waves, it still could get overwhelming.

But two pills and ten minutes of fresh air and he was back downstairs, looking to find Anna for a dance or two and avoid getting his cheeks pinched from his Winchester grandparents.

"So I've been told. But I'm thinking it might not be my thing anymore."

He looked over at Anna a few feet away talking to someone. "Not sure I want to put myself in a place that keeps me stationary anymore."

"Oh? What are you looking to do then?"

He didn't comment about the boy looking for his girl, but he knew that look. He looked at Mary like that.

"Don't know. I don't really need to worry about that sort of thing in my life. Never really did."

"Uh huh. Should probably think about it a little. Trust me, life is hard without money." And scamming it wasn't the best way to go.

Ben smirked at that. "Money's never been a problem for me either."

If John knew to look close enough, he would see that Ben's suit wasn't something cheap and off the rack. It had a nice price tag attached to it once.

John didn't know hot to look. He never had. He'd grown up just below middle class and hovered at middle class while married. Rich just wasn't in his experience.

"Well, ain't you lucky?"

Ben snorted and resisted rolling his eyes. "Yeah, I'm the luckiest boy alive."

"Hey, you gotta chance to do what you want. I call that lucky." He smiled a little. "I'd say, if you can do it, go do it."

"I highly recommend blonds."

Ben chuckled and pointed over at Anna.

"I actually like brunettes myself."

"Ah, well, she looks like a good girl to travel with."

He wondered if he should mention the girl to Mary or not.

"She is, and a lot more."

He looked back at John, leaning against the wall. "My mom was a brunette too. And while I basically look like a clone of Dean, I still have her eyes. That's about it these days, plus a few memories."

He liked the sound of that and knew exactly how the boy felt.

"You do look amazingly like Dean."

"I've been told many times. I've also been told I'm a lot like him personality wise. At least, how he used to be."

He looked over at his father near Jo and licked his lips. Out of everyone at the wedding, Ben was trying to stay out of the way of his father. He figured that it would just be nicer to not let any tension flare up between them.
