He was completely unaware of another demon in the woods until he was at the tree where Stolas was in. Only then did his senses feel that someone was watching him and he stiffened, his hand slipping slowly into his pocket to wrap around his knife.
Lindsey didn't like suddenly feeling like he was prey.

Once he was sure the psychic commands were in place, he made himself visible in the tree, leaning back with a slightly sadistic grin. "Lindsey McDonald. I have heard a lot about you."

It was his worst fear - not being in control. Ever since Wolfram and Hart had done whatever they had to his mind and soul when they had put him in the holding dimension, he had no control over mental suggestions. Hell, one of the things they did when you joined the firm was kill any shields you had against psychics that worked for the firm so they could easily mind-scan their employees for traitorous thoughts.
What do you want from me? he asked through the demon telepathic link, since it was the only way he had to communicate.
