Having finally settled into the swing of this batting thing -- pun totally intended, X gets into her stance and waits for Gaeta to throw the first pitch.
And the second.
She swings for the fourth pitch, connecting solidly with the ball and sending it rocketing into the outfield.
It bounces over the line that marks the superhuman boundary, and while that does not give her an automatic home run, it does make it much easier for her to reach second base.

It's a good throw, but X is not quite human. Her reflexes are just that much sharper, her speed just that much faster --
Her foot hits third base a few seconds before the ball ends up in Leela's glove, and she stops dead, the sudden change in momentum making her sway in place -- but only a little.
Her foot stays right where it is planted.
And X is now one base closer to home, and scoring a run. And Castiel is still at bat.
This experiment can probably be counted a success.
There are only three outs left in Milliways' first ever baseball game . . .

And hold there. It is only sensible.

The first pitch goes wide. Castiel stops his swing in time to avoid a strike.
Gaeta winds up for the second.

Tomas often talked about the efficacy of stealing a base.
X is testing his hypothesis!

Gaeta catches the movement out of the corner of his eye and pivots the wind-up around as fast as he can, firing the ball toward Leela.

Inwardly, he's all but grinning at the success of her play.
Castiel squares up to the plate again. The pitch this time has a bit of a curve on it. He watches the approach...
His bat connects solidly, sending the ball far far into the outfield.
Castiel actually stares for a moment, before remembering to run. He takes off for first, and rounds on to second.

This does not mean that she takes her time about it.
It would be inefficient.
She does, however, pause before heading for the bench in order to see what happens to Castiel.
It is only polite.

And even though he is not sure it is precisely necessary, he slides into home plate.
.....the field really looks odd from this angle.
"Did I make a run?" Castiel asks, still flat on his back.

It's kind of hard, at this moment.
"Safe," Meg manages. "Yes, you did. So did Laura."
Two-run homer in the ninth. Not too shabby for your first game, Castiel.

He knows that some of his brothers and sisters would look askance at his enjoyment in this added layer of clay.
"Thank you," he says to Meg.
"And congratulations, Laura."

And now Enzo Matrix steps up to the plate.

The first pitch whiffs by, but he bunts the second. Catch him if you can!

In the same movement, he spins to fire it toward first, silently urging on the throw: Come on, come on, come on --
