What a polished little gem. So much subtext and insight into their existence in here and at the end of it: they're happy with what they have. I just love this! And this little bit here:

'Like how sometimes Sam wakes up to find his brother standing at the window, orange-glowing in the morning sun, smiling out at the world like it has something to offer him. Like maybe today it will do more than beat him bloody.'

That made me feel happy and sad and all misty-eyed!

How was the wedding?

The wedding was wonderful, thank you so much for asking, the weather and venue were perfect, I'll be posting a few photos but it probably won't be until tomorrow.

Aw, love the h/c domesticity of it. And the tv couple was funny (what are a den, or a bonus room, or a powder room...?).

The ending was both heartbreaking and heartwarming. It's the little things, indeed.

By the way... a powder room is a stupid name for a tiny bathroom with just a toilet and sink, no shower or bathtub. They're often placed near common areas so that guests don't have to use the host's personal bathroom or go ALLLLL the way upstairs to use the bathroom shared by the secondary bedrooms. Cause that would apparently be icky.

Sorry, that explanation was way too long-- real estate construction, design, renovation, etc. is another one of my geeky obsessions. :\
