Where did you guys have your year 12 formal?

Or, have you had one at a place/been to one somewhere that was nice and maybe appropriate for a year 12 formal, preferably with a reasonably sized dance floor?

There are generally many hotels that have good-sized rooms that you can rent out for a "reasonable" price, whatever that is. You can even arrange to have them feed you too.

We had ours at the "Greek Club" in West End. Huge ballroom, lots of ballons...

However, West End is in the Brisbane end, not the Sydney end..so this doesn't help you in the slightest.

I went to one there. It was Roseville College's yr 10. It was really really nice.

We had ours at a swish hotel in the city. They played a lot of Aqua including Barbie Girl. People danced. I didn't. Horrible night.
