You're not missing anything at Australia Zoo, btw: it's a tourist trap in the middle of nowhere, with a few crocodiles in concrete pens and a zillion overpriced merchandise stalls. For a real zoo, you're much better off in Sydney!

i didn`t spend lots of time in Sydney to be able to give you a lot advice from experience, but i did look into some day trips outside of Sydney myself. if i remember correctly, a lot of it is mentioned in the guidebook you have. did i mark that poor book up? i can`t remember. ^^;;; you`re free to have mine as well, which has highlights all over the place.
i wish i had had time and money to go to Melbourne. :[

Ok so you need to go Lygon street for the best Italian ever, and I can totally give you the names of a few people to guide you around if you like. Sydney is ok, but Melbourne is awesome. Make sure you go to the Dandenongs, Grampians, Mornington Peninsular or The great ocean road <3
