Reverse Braingineering

Jan 22, 2008 19:29

It's raining for the fourth day in a row. It's that cold, steady, seeping rain again. Gaaah I hate it. I hate winter. Rain in the summer is welcomed because it cools things off. In the winter, it's just miserable ( Read more... )

That's great that you were able to decipher the schedule :)

Tell me about Genki!

I start school again today (eesk!), and I'm totally unprepared.

Benkyou ganbatte! You're never prepared for school to come again. Just take it like a blow to the head.

Genki is totally awesome! Basically, it's a musical the JETs in Kochi put on every year. It's entirely in Japanese and not only that, it's also entirely in the local dialect: Tosa-ben. And only foreigners are allowed to be in it! Hilarity ensues.

Every single penny (err... yen) of profit goes toward sending one outstanding student in Kochi to study abroad for a year.

This year, the play will be about Ryouma Sakamoto's wife and her friends. Ryouma is the hero of Kochi and a famous figure of Japan. When you go into Kochi City, there's this HUGE building with his face painted on it. It's kind of creepy. But his wife was a really headstrong woman (a very rare trait for Japanese woman even now, let alone 150 years ago) and kind of represents the women of Kochi ( ... )

D: ...i don`t even get to see the school`s schedule that far in advance to have been able to figure something like that out. >.>; although i suppose i could stand at the front of the staff room for 10mins trying to figure out the big monthly schedule boardthing.

but anyway, i`m glad to hear your classes went well and that you are now taking advantage of daikyuu-ness. ;) it also like you may have opened up a new door of opportunity at Ogawa and you may get told about more things now. :] great.

you may get told about more things now.
That's what I'm hoping!

I hate that big monthly schedule board thing. It's all handwritten and I have enough trouble reading kanji when it's perfectly legible.

But you've gotta do what you gotta do. At Sakawa, I just ask the English teachers, "What's going on this month?" But I never get anything interesting out of them even though I know there must be something going on...

Ahhh the life of an ALT.

Wow. You are way more proactive than I would ever be. I'd just be like "Oh. They don't want me..." and I'd walk away in tears.

I just threw my back out. I'm considering suicide. Any suggestions?

No suicide for you!

Come live with me here in Japan. The offer stands for whenever you want to take it.

Remember that I love you with every fiber of my being, including my armpit hairs.

THIS IS YOUR MOTHER WRITING. YOU HAVE GOT TO SIT THESE PEOPLE DOWN AND ASK THEM EYEBALL TO EYEBALL IF YOU ARE DOING A GOOD JOB.YOU ARE STRESSING YOURSELF OUT HERE SO UNECESSARILY.WHAT'S THE WORSTE THAT CAN HAPPEN? IT WOULD BE A BUMMER IF THEY SAID YOU WERE CRAP.BUT YOU KNOW THAT WOULDN'T HAPPEN. THEY WOULD JUST SMILE,BOW AND CONTINUE ON THEIR MERRY WAY.RACHEL IS ANNOYING ME. SOMETHING ABOUT HER BACK.I ONLY HAVE 2 FRIENDS ON MYSPACE AND THEY AREN'T FRIENDS,THEY'RE MY CHILDREN.MAYBE ALL THAT"I HATE PEOPLE" STUFF WEIRDED PEOPLE OUT.LOVE YOU,MOM

Oh mom, of course I've sat down with them. I trap them at their desks, sit them down and say, "How did I do? Is there anything you'd like me to do differently?" And you know what their reply is? "Oh, no. You were fine. Everything is fine." It's in Japanese nature to not want to tell anyone their faults.

I'm working on a ALT evaluation sheet to give to my coworkers after each lesson. This will take the pressure off a face-to-face conversation. I got the idea during the conference.

You will acquire more friends on your myspace! I had just Katie and Rachel for the longest time, but then people started adding me. It was nuts! See? You already have Tim. More will follow.

I LIKE HOW YOUR MOTHER WROTE WITH CAPS LOCK ON SO I COULD READ IT EASIER. THANK YOU MS. FLORA. THIS IS TIM BY THE WAY.

Ann, you keep amazing yourself and me. Watch out, you might be some sort of superstar Japanese TV personality some day. Like Dr. Phil or Montel (much love from a brother with another mother my main man Mon). And you better invite me on the show. Or I will killz you. Live on air. And say hi to my mom to the camera afterwards. That would be awkward. Don't make me do it. Or at least hire me to do something on the show. That would be awesome.

THIS IS TIM SIGNING OUT. LATER. BYE MS. FLORA IF YOU READ THIS AGAIN.

I'm slowly trying to work in my crazy personality into school. I still never several more months (and WAY better Japanese skills) until I can even half-way be myself, but it's getting better. I totally do want to be on Japanese TV someday. That would rock.
