Yay for Feeling Better!

Nov 02, 2007 19:42

I am feeling much better today. After going for days with no appetite whatsoever, I am finally eating again. I was even having trouble choking down broth and crackers until yesterday. My stomach was growling and my body was obviously in desperate need of food, but the thought of ingesting anything made me nauseous. It was a very strange, ( Read more... )

I normally finish about a book a week between down time at work and long bus rides (Ann, this is what they're paying us for- to be professional readers), so I can do a little recommending. If you like fantasy, try Patrica McCillup. I'm not sure I spelled her named right, but she wrote "The Sorceress and the Cygnat". Orson Scott Card's "Alvin Maker" series and "Ender" stuff is pretty good. Not going to change your life, but it'll keep you awake at work. Do not, under any circumstances, read Terry Brooks though. I also really liked "Mightnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter".
Enjoy having your appetite back now that you're feeling better! Isn't that the best feeling in the world? And good luck renting DVDs. I hope that adventure ends with you relaxing in front of some wonderful movies and bringing recovery full circle.

Ahhh thanks for the suggestions. I'll look into them! I knew I could count on you for some recommendations. :D

I still haven't gotten up the courage to go to the video store, but I will very soon! It certainly will help me feel better.

why are you even ordering from Amazon.com? you can turn Amazon.co.jp into english and order US books from it. you can even order online and then pay for it in cash at a conbini.

i ordered all 12 volumes of Death Note in english at cheaper prices than i'd even get them in USD in a US bookstore, got free shipping and paid for it at a conbini. very convenient.

That's a good idea to order manga from there. But the reason why I'm ordering from Amazon US is because I want to buy some American DVDs which aren't on the JP site. And while I'm paying out the butt for shipping, I want to throw something else in there.

I'd love to be able to pay at a konbini though. I'll keep that in mind.

I recommend the halo series. Seriously. Just skip "the flood" one, thats a direct copy of the game, and its boring as hell to read it unless you havent played the game at all. And even then it sucks, because for no reason someone else wrote it, and he sucks at writing. Eric Nylund is a God of sci-fi. And you could get them from me or Adam, especially the new one, ghosts of onyx. Kicks so much ass, seriously, those books are complete spin offs of the game, and the games never incorporate anything it says, or we'd have more Spartans with us when we play. I cant think of anything else at moment. Oh and I'm soo glad you're on a fast recovery track. Go you not dying!!

Yes, go me not dying. :D

I'd love to read Halo. I don't know if Adam has all the books, but do you? And I think I'd actually like to read The Flood because I never played the game all the way through so I don't know know what's going on. But I promise I won't stop reading the series if I find boring. :)

My third graders have never asked for my autograph :( I have 5 classes of them. I love them dearly. They have energy but are less crazy/loud than the 4th graders, and you can play more games with them than the 2nd graders and under. Pretty much the perfect grade.

I like the third graders too. They're so much fun. In general I like the little kids the best, but it's really tough to come up with games for the first and second year kids. So I have to agree with you: third years rock.
