I'm going to ensure that the three posts that follow this one are not cycle related as I'm getting a bit bored of it, so you *must* be. If you're still there ( Read more... )

Impressive, young Jedi.

It's a bit of a shame you'll be heading down the west coast, but (as you say) there's always the C2C to bring you through our neck of the woods someday. Out of curiosity, about how much weight do you expect to have in your panniers on this run? I'm guessing you won't be camping at all along the route that time of year, so no tent... but I'm just trying to get an idea of what a 'normal weight for touring' might be in those panniers.

I still have great memories of the four or five days Bex and I spent driving around Scotland almost a decade ago; that stretch from Inverness down to Glencoe is simply eye-popping and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. (Will you be stuck using the A82 or have you found a nice cycle route that parallels it?)

It's a time thing unfortunately. The distance is greater on the east coast route (although much of it is amazing ( ... )

Good luck!

And you'll be away over my birthday, will have to sort out drinks when you get back.

Eeep! Oops, will try to make it up on my return, especially when I'm still hoping to see you this weekend!

It's an annoying slot between using up the leave from this year, starting to use up the next year's allocation whilst also picking a time of year that's temperate but not so nice that every other bugger will be on holiday (and I'll therefore have nowhere to stay).

Given that everyone I have alerted has said "Go Flight!", I think I'm on for main engine start on the 23rd of March.

Sounds awesome. I still have hope of doing the C2C next year sometime, but if I do, I'm going to really need to start training soon. Hrrm. I'd like to do the coasts and castles route to Edinburgh instead as it's less travelled, but it's also 50 miles longer !!

The coasts and castles sounds great - I would definitely like to do a bit of that next year, just to see Alnwick if anything (Bryony has an Uncle near there too).

I think you could ace the C2C even now.

If we can organise it, would be awesome to all do some of it together. I reckon Alnwick is around 45 miles from our house, and it's fantastic! There's a great pub we already know all about, little town market and of course the castle and posion garden ;p
