You have picked beautiful books to quote. I have read The Lovely Bones too many times too be good on my emotions. That book is so beautiful, as was Memoirs of a Geshia. It was a great entry to read.

Aw, thank you Jen! I haven't yet read The Lovely Bones more than once, but I'm sure I will eventually, and the same goes for Memoirs of a Geisha. Both of those books were just so breathtaking and haunting, all at the same time, for me.

I'm glad you enjoyed this entry. :) I hope that you're doing well; I know I never really comment on your entries, but I always read them. Take care. :)

Hehe, I can definitely understand not wanting to ruin the story and reading specifically for the story. I never read so many snippets that it really gives away much of anything about the overall story - I don't like having the plot ruined, either. My inherant curiosity just gets the best of me, hehe ( ... )

oh, there will be much feedback on the books. actually, probably continuous commentary. consider yourself warned.

there's a cafe called gusto which i'm sure do them. i've had chai tea lattes there before. chai latte tea? latte chai tea? *shrugs* :)

halloween isn't a big deal really.not a whole lot of decorating and we live in a slightly older area so not a lot of kids, plenty of cranky old people. and i haven't dressed up in years. don't have the confidence. i find it hard enough to look passable in my own clothes rather than find a costume that fits, looks good, people will recognise... dressing up to go out drinking is a big deal. i'm usually the party pooper. ah well.

as we have discussed, i'm crashing thanksgiving sometime soon. save me some cranberry-orange relish. mmm. love!

*bounces in her chair giddily!* Seriously, no warning necessary, love. Continuous commentary is SO okay with me. :D

Ah, yes! Chai tea lattes is what they really are. :)

Aw, love, you are more than passable, no matter what. :)

And yes, you must absolutely crash Thanksgiving sometime soon! :D If it weren't for that stupid No Perishables rule with mail, I'd so send you some of the cranberry-orange relish, LOL. If you want, I'm sure I could find the recipe for it. If I don't have it here at my place, my mom obviously has it. :D

I love these and I love trying to see what they mean to you, exactly. This makes me want to read these books, and makes me want to compile a list of my own like this, only all the exerpts would be from Anthony Bourdain books. :)

Thank you, Lily! I'm really glad you enjoyed this entry. :)

I would absolutely love to see a list of your own! And I must say, I don't know much beyond what you've mentioned about him in various entries, but you have gotten me quite interested in this Anthony Bourdain, so I would definitely love to see any favorite excerpts you have from his works. :)

Hope you're doing well! I love you.

"The Lovely Bones" was one of the most gorgeous books I ever read--almost life altering.

:) I absolutely loved it - it was one of those books, for me, that sucked me in right away. I got it for Christmas a couple years ago, back when I was still taking the train to and from here in St. Cloud and my parents' home in Chicago. I started it on the train ride back to St. Cloud, about an hour or so after pulling out of the station in Chicago. Save for a few breaks here and there to get up and stretch, to eat, use the bathroom or for a short nap, reading that book was pretty much the only thing I did for the entire 12 hour train ride. I just could not put it down. I finished it about 2-3 hours before we pulled in to the station at St. Cloud, hehe.

Thank you for the comment, Krystal. :)

I've read all of these except the Hamann book. I'll have to read that one. I must admit, I don't understand the whole reading snippets thing, I tend to be more like Lizzy. I will look at the first page or so, and read the liner notes ( ... )

I haven't read Anthropology of an American Girl yet, either, but I really can't wait to - in fact, I'm thinking I'll probably go ahead and start it, even though I just started A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and am still in the midst of The Fountainhead. Hehe, I'm such an over-achiever, LOL ( ... )
