I'm not gonna lie, the prosey bit in the DK's description is pretty well done, and pretty heavy with the visuals. It just ... doesn't really belong -there-. It kind of ... with the drawing ... and it being on a black background (due to the way MRP works) ... it reminds me sorta of the old AoL profiles where people would pseudo-hack the default layout to just display white or grey dark-as-the-pit-of-my-tortured-soul text on a black background and the link to a picture. (And I know this because mine used to display Invictus and whatever drawing I'd done of my RP character that thankfully are all dead links now.) Oh. Fond memories.

The "I'll be sweet as pie to you if you're nice to my DK buddies" kind of made my eyes cross, though.

Oh yeah, that's a phenomenal bit of prose. It just... isn't your character's visual description. AT ALL.

Move that prose to the History tab, put a decent physical description in the Description tab, and completely kill all the useless wanky metadata in the History tab, and it would actually be pretty damn cool.

Sure, it's eye-rolling to some people ("use some creativity!" or whatever), but a simple "WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET" or some variant thereof in the appearance tab would be suitable. Hell, leave the link there! I actually dig the drawing.

I can see where he might just want the visual impact of the prose, and that some people don't use MRP or have unchecked the "see biographical information" box in MRP's settings to hide the second tab, but ... :| I dunno. I'm torn. I really like the prose, but it's just making me make annoyed burbling sounds over the vague pretension. I sound a bit like a flustered pudding about to boil over.

I'll admit that I didn't mind the part in his appearance tag... it would've been great in his history tag and all that. I mostly rolled my eyes because of his gracious warning that he won't kill people's characters without permission and that he considers hurting his frands permission. Mmhm.

Pfft. People who die in RP don't actually die. It's temporary. Just give it a couple hours; they'll get better.

I really hate ressurections...

When people annoy the recently departed into taking it. I saw that happen with a well-planned assassination once, and then there was meta-gaming.

Also, I once was forced to have a character die by an ex-Gleader... so... yeah. And then he says "Oh that's okay because you were harrassing me" in a complete mix-up of IC and OoC, because it was IC harrassment by my CHARACTER. Not by me. She, sadly, didn't get better until she got promoted to OoC bank-alt.

I've seen that happen before, and it bugs the hell out of me. What business is it of anyone else's if you want to kill your own character? Maybe the player needs a break or maybe they just want to play someone else or maybe they're leaving the game. I'm fully of the belief that no one should be pressured into RPing anything they don't want to, death or resurrection included.

See. Actually knowing now that's where the reference is from makes me laugh because I've been up to my eyebrows in Star Wars all week.

I remember that one. It bothered me about as much then as it does in this flag. Like... I get the need to assert that you are a womyn and we should hear you roar and you're mad at those special snowflake giggling twits, but come on. Take the attitude out of the flag and make it about what your character is, not what she isn't.

I've come to do the same with my anything-but-humans. WoW has weird timelines when it comes to what constitutes an adult, a young adult, venerable, etc. Tauren, in particular, have a strange lifespan. So I just say "young adult" or "venerable" or something like that and let other people figure it out.

And yeah, that's about how I felt about DK #2 as well. His character does come across as having an interesting sort of attitude and approach, but then I read that OOC note and facepalmed. I'm sorry, my IC actions are not OOC permission for you to do anything.
