So, the assistant manager shows up for work today and is, predictably, nonplussed by statements from the project manager that I am sharing his duties. We just had a brief exchange during which I pointed out that the situation was complicated by the fact that my manager didn't spell our the respective roles before his departure.

The director then made some vague statements about how those respective roles would be become more clear as the week went on... Whatever that means.

Then the assistant manager walked in on us and the conversation ended in an even more vague fashion with the dept director telling me to let him personally know if I saw places or holes that needed addressing as they come up.

So basically, I think I've been asked to inform on the missteps of the assistant manager.

This is the weirdest situation imaginable.
