I do have a job on Monday morning at USAA still. For at least another month, until January 11th, with people who are trying to appeal for approvals to keep me longer. Potentially March, potentially past then. Trying to get around the rule of how I should have to go, if not officially hired, at my year mark. So we'll see

Yea! I understand the strain of the unknowing. I have worked as a 'contractor' in my current position a little over three years, and four companies. Same room, same everything else. The last two years, they have talked about making my team into GS positions so they wouldn't cost so much, and they don't have to worry about us going anywhere. Still talking, as far as I know.

Meanwhile, every January, we hang out looking down waiting on the contract renewal for the upcoming year - it has almost always been at the last possible moment on the last day of the current year. We should have a community tap for PeptoBismol during that last week.

In the five years prior to that, same desk, same everything, four different companies.

The HUGE thing, and most importantly, is that your actual working group want to keep you and will look for ways to stretch the rules to fit you in.
